Mayors and other representatives from sites threatened by a high-level radioactive waste repository have again criticized the continued chaotic and non-transparent state’s procedure in the siting proces for a deep geological repository at today's Assembly of the Platform Against Deep Repository. They informed present members of both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate about violations of obligations and secrecy of information by the competent state authorities. Mayors and other representatives invited a new political representation to launch a fair dialogue on this crucial issue and to submit a promised Act that would strengthen the rights of municipalities when deciding on a repository.

Ministr životního prostředí Richard Brabec překvapivě vrátil do života průzkumná území pro geologické práce pro vyhledávání hlubinného úložiště jaderného odpadu na lokalitách Březový potok (blízko Horažďovic), Čertovka (u Lubence), Čihadlo (u Lodhéřova na Jindřichohradecku) a Magdaléna (u Jistebnice na Táborsku). O osudu zbývajících tří průzkumných území z Vysočiny bude rozhodnuto později.

Minister of the Environment Richard Brabec surprisingly brought exploration permits for geological exploration for potential repository sites at Březový potok (near Horažďovice), Čertovka (near Lubenec), Čihadlo (near Lodhéřov in Jindřichův Hradec) and Magdaléna (near Jistebnice in Tábor) back to life. The decision about the remaining three exploration permits for the sites in Highlands will be taken later.

The Radioactive Waste Repository Authority (RAWRA/SÚRAO) has decided to carry out geophysical and other exploratory work on sites selected for deep geological repository, despite the expiration of the exploration areas designated for this purpose at the end of 2016. However, the accountable Ministry of the Environment does not act.

Většina politických stran, které mají šanci dostat se v říjnových volbách do Poslanecké sněmovny, podporuje zapojení obcí do všech fází rozhodování o umísťování hlubinného úložiště jaderného odpadu. Vyplývá to z jejich odpovědí na předvolební anketu.

Správa úložišť radioaktivních odpadů (SÚRAO), která hledá místo pro hlubinné úložiště vysoce radioaktivních odpadů, se rozhodla pokračovat v tradici popírání svých dříve vydaných slibů a prohlášení. Starostům oznámila, že zadala výběrové řízení na provedení geofyzikálních prací ve všech lokalitách a začalo účelově tvrdit, že již nejde o průzkumy, ale jen o výzkumy, pro které průzkumná území nepotřebuje.

Radioactive Waste Repository Authority (RAWRA/SÚRAO), which is in charge of the siting process for a deep geological repository for high-level waste, has decided to continue the tradition of denying its previously promised promises and statements. This caused a worsening of the uncertainty between the municipalities and the inhabitants of the municipalities whose regions are amongst seven sites chosen by RAWRA as potentially suitable for the repository.

Platforma proti hlubinnému úložišti považuje probíhající proces hodnocení vlivů nové vládní Koncepce nakládání s radioaktivními odpady a vyhořelým jaderným palivem na životní prostředí a zdraví lidí za zmařenou příležitost, jak otevřít potřebnou širší společenskou debatu o možnostech, jak naložit s dlouhodobě nebezpečným dědictvím jaderné energetiky. Taková veřejná diskuse a zhodnocení různých variant řešení tu zcela zásadně chybí.

Platform Against Deep Repository considers the ongoing process of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of the new Governmental National Programme on Radioactive Waste and Spent Nuclear Fuel Management [1] regarding the environment and human health as a wasted opportunity to open up the nationwide societal debate needed on tackling the long-term, dangerous nuclear heritage. Such a public discussion and evaluation of the different options of the solution is fundamentally lacking in the Czech Republic. The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MPO) and the Radioactive Waste Repository Authority (SÚRAO/RAWRA) have been blocking the siting process for four years since the drafting of the national programme (the text was finalized already in June 2013) and refuse to consider a different option than the rapid selection of the final site for the deep repository in 2025 at the latest and its operation in 2065.

Shromáždění členů Platformy proti hlubinnému úložišti se tentokráte uskutečnilo 6. června 2017 v Chanovicích na další z lokalit ohrožených projektem hlubinného úložiště, kterou Správa úložišť začala nazývat Březový potok. Od říjnového setkání v Božejovicích posílili uskupení noví členové, na dnešní počet 34 (22 měst a obcí a 12 spolků ze všech původních sedmi lokalit).

Chanovice – This time the Assembly of the members of the Platform Against Deep Repository took place in Chanovice which is in another of the sites threatened by the deep geological repository project, called the Březový potok by the Repository Authority (RAWRA).Since the October meeting in Božejovice, the group has strengthened its membership to 34 (22 cities and 12 municipalities from all seven original sites).

Den proti úložišti má připomenout, že problém stále není řešen. V sobotu 22. dubna 2017 se koná třetí ročník Dne proti úložišti, letos zaštítěný nově vzniklou Platformou proti hlubinnému úložišti, která sdružuje již 22 obcí a 11 spolků. Při něm se na všech sedmi lokalitách po celé České republice, kde Správa úložišť radioaktivních odpadů hledá místo pro trvalé hlubinné úložiště, uskuteční v rámci společného protestu pochody, maraton, sázení stromů, besedy, promítání a další akce. Starostové a obyvatelé dotčených obcí tímto chtějí veřejně upozornit na svůj zásadní nesouhlas s postupem státních úřadů, v jehož důsledku pod jejich domovy může skončit vysoce radioaktivní odpad nebezpečný po tisíce generací.
